Phase Fiasco’s polyphonic resonator instrument Annulus is being given away for free!
In this article, we introduce the free download information and an overview of Annulus. We hope you find it helpful.
1. What Is Phase Fiasco “Annulus”?
Annulus is a MIDI-driven polyphonic resonator instrument with six modes, based on Mutable Instruments’ Rings. Built around the concept “Six worlds. One instrument.”, it is designed for sound designers who think about sound in terms of texture. The incoming signal passes through four chained processors: Rings (resonator), Spiral (tape delay), Velvet (reverb), and Distortion. Four macro knobs — Morphe, Aigle, Nothros, and Topos — let you control the entire chain simultaneously.
Main Features
- Six modes: Morphosis (modal resonator / the original Rings algorithm), Sympatheia (sympathetic string ensemble), Bathmos (Karplus-Strong string model), Anomalia (FM voice), Donisis (chord-locked sympathetic string engine), and Antron (ambient strings with built-in reverb)
- Rings: a MIDI-driven polyphonic resonator based on Mutable Instruments’ Rings
- Spiral: a stereo tape delay with tempo sync, ping-pong, wobble modulation, and saturated feedback
- Velvet: an algorithmic reverb with shimmer, diffusion, ducking, and a 4-second tail
- Distortion: 12 wave-shaping models with 2x oversampling (from soft tube warmth to asymmetric fuzz)
- Four macro knobs that control the entire chain: Morphe, Aigle, Nothros, and Topos
