Tone Empire’s preamp plugin “EDYN” is currently available for FREE for a limited time!
In this article, we cover the free giveaway details and give you an overview of EDYN.
1. What Is Tone Empire “EDYN”?
EDYN is a preamp/saturation plugin that models the discrete transistor preamps found in American consoles from the 1960s and 70s. It belongs to Tone Empire’s “Enhanced Classics Series” and is designed around three core characteristics: forward mids, fast transient response, and a deep, solid low end. Because it adds rich harmonics and analog weight, it works on vocals, drums, and any track you don’t want to get buried in the mix. With a light gain setting it simply adds density and presence to a track, while pushing the DRIVE harder lets you dial in anything from saturation to aggressive crunch. It also includes an “Ultra-X” model powered by NM2 neural technology running at up to 192kHz, delivering high-resolution processing with reduced aliasing noise in exchange for higher CPU load.
Key Features
- Models the discrete transistor preamps that defined American consoles of the 1960s and 70s
- DRIVE: Input gain into the preamp circuit. Adjusts from gentle coloration to heavy saturation, compression, and crunch
- OUT: Adjusts the output level after pushing the DRIVE (-12 to +12dB)
- AG switch: Auto gain compensation. Makes manual output-level adjustment nearly unnecessary even when raising the DRIVE
- OVD switch: Loads an overdrive model capable of deeper distortion. Ideal for guitars, drums, and anywhere you want stronger grit
- φ (Phase) switch: Inverts the phase just like the hardware. Can also be used as a trick when blending with the dry signal
- Z (Z-Impedance) switch: Switches between 50Ω and 200Ω impedance models. Two characters designed with mic matching in mind
- Top bar includes H (high-pass), L (low-pass), I (input trim), O (output trim), and M (mix) for parallel processing and cutting unwanted frequencies
- Ultra-X mode: An up-to-192kHz model powered by NM2 neural technology that reduces aliasing noise and extends high-frequency response
- Works on a wide range of sources: vocals, drums and percussion, bass, synths, guitars, keys, acoustic instruments, and the mix bus
