iZotope released RX 12 on April 29, 2026 — the next major version of the industry-standard audio repair toolkit that has earned a Scientific & Engineering Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and two Engineering Emmy Awards over its lifetime. RX 12 ships in three editions (Elements, Standard, Advanced), and the headline additions this time around lean heavily into post-production workflows: a new Scene Rebalance module, a Stems View that turns separated audio into a track-based stem workflow, and Trim Silence for long-form material.
What’s new in RX 12
RX 12 introduces five new modules, two rebuilt-from-the-ground-up modules, three improvements, and a refreshed UI:
- Scene Rebalance (NEW, Advanced only) — Intelligently separates a finished film/TV mix into dialogue, music, and effects. Designed for post-production scenarios where you don’t have access to the original stems.
- Stems View (NEW, Standard+) — After separating audio with Scene Rebalance, Music Rebalance, or Dialogue Isolate, deploy the result into a track-based stem workflow. Apply RX’s full toolkit to each stem individually before merging back and exporting.
- Trim Silence (NEW, Advanced only) — Threshold-based silence detection and removal. Strong tool for podcasts, field recordings, and long interviews.
- De-bleed Realtime plugin (NEW, Standard+) — De-bleed now ships as an insertable real-time plugin, not just a standalone module.
- Music Rebalance Realtime plugin (NEW, Standard+) — Source separation into vocals / bass / percussion, also now available as a real-time plugin you can automate per scene.
- De-bleed (Rebuilt, Standard+) — Reference bleed track upload no longer required. Now uses state-of-the-art ML to separate snare / tom / cymbal from a full drum bus, and works on vocals / guitar / piano too.
- Breath Control (Rebuilt, Standard+) — Breath reduction/removal for dialogue and vocals, now ML-driven for more accurate detection.
- Music Rebalance (Improved, Standard+) — Upgraded offline neural network for tighter, more pinpoint stem separation.
- Dialogue Isolate (Improved, Standard+) — Better noise and reverb removal in both real-time and offline modes.
- Repair Assistant (Improved, all editions) — Newer ML model for the CLEAN UP / De-noise stage.
Elements vs Standard vs Advanced
RX 12 Elements is the entry edition — none of the new RX 12 modules or rebuilds are included; only the improved Repair Assistant carries over. Good for first-time users or light cleanup. RX 12 Standard covers nearly all the new ground: Stems View, the new real-time plugins (De-bleed, Music Rebalance), the rebuilt De-bleed and Breath Control modules, and all three improvements. For music production cleanup work, Standard is enough for most users. RX 12 Advanced adds the post-production-only features: Scene Rebalance and Trim Silence. If you work on film/TV mixes or long-form spoken content, Advanced is the recommended pick.

Upgrade and crossgrade paths
If you already own an earlier version, iZotope’s upgrade pricing is significantly cheaper than buying fresh. RX 11 Standard / Advanced owners get steep update pricing on RX 12 Standard / Advanced respectively; Elements owners get an upgrade path into Standard or Advanced; and any paid iZotope product qualifies for crossgrade pricing on RX 12 Standard. With RX 11 reaching EOL alongside the RX 12 launch, locking in an upgrade now is the cheapest way to stay current.
Where to buy
