Softube is an audio plugin and hardware maker founded in 2003 in Linköping, Sweden. It began when Oscar Öberg, an engineering graduate student measuring the tubes of a Marshall JCM800 at Linköping University, became convinced that analog gear could be modeled digitally far better than the lifeless emulations available at the time. Niklas Odelholm, Arvid Rosén and Torsten Gatu joined to form the four-person founding team, and more than 20 years later those same founders still lead the company.
