1. Skaka Latest Sale Information
Skaka is currently on sale as follows.
Skaka Sale: Until September 21, 2026
- Klevgrand "Skaka" – a shaker percussion instrument that delivers human-like performances – $19.99 (until 9/21)

2. What Is Klevgrand "Skaka"?
Skaka is a sample-based sequencer plugin dedicated to shaker-type percussion that lets you create shaker patterns which sound like they were played by a human. Klevgrand designed both the sequencer and the sampler from the ground up in order to optimise them for this specific kind of sound.
Basic structure of Skaka
Skaka has 12 slots, and each slot can be given its own instrument, parameters and pattern. Each pattern is made up of multiple events (hits), and for every single event you can individually adjust parameters such as pitch, velocity (how fast the instrument is shaken) and envelope.
How Skaka Creates a Human-Like Groove
These are the features that allow Skaka to deliver a performance close to that of a real human percussionist.
- Full control over the amount of shuffle / swing
- An advanced, fully customisable humanizer
- Internal distinction between "in" and "out" shakes (reproducing the fact that the outward stroke and the return stroke sound different)
- Grids divided into triplets, quintuplets and septuplets
- Fine timing adjustment and variable sequence length
Key point
Thanks to these features you can get a sound that is extremely close to a human percussionist at practically any tempo, without relying on quality-degrading techniques such as time stretching.
Included Instruments and Samples
There are 18 shaker-type instruments on board, including Egg, Shaker, Tambourine, Caxixi, Single Shot, Ghungroos and Calabash & Seeds. Each instrument has 8 (or 9) velocity layers, and each layer holds more than 30 round robins, so the total number of samples used runs into the thousands.
Six new instruments added in v1.2
For v1.2, Klevgrand chased dirtier, darker and grittier percussion sounds by building their own instruments with different containers, materials and contents, then capturing them in high-quality stereo recordings. Pepper Puck, Tin Box, Nut Shells, Pocket Tamb, Match Box and Paper Roll were added. The same update also introduced double / half time functions relative to the DAW tempo as well as a resizable UI.
Effects and Presets
For the finishing touches, Skaka includes a reverb, a room simulator and a high-shelf filter. It also ships with around 200 ready-made pattern presets that cover most genres and styles.
Supported formats
Skaka runs inside your DAW as an AU (Audio Unit), VST and AAX plugin. On top of the macOS and Windows versions, an iPad version is available as well.
