Roland “ZENOLOGY PRO” — Roland’s official software synth built on the ZEN-Core engine with EXZ expansion sound support.
ZENOLOGY Pro is a next-generation plugin that fully implements Roland’s cutting-edge ZEN-Core Synthesis System, the culmination of more than 50 years of synthesizer development, as an expandable software synthesizer. It is patch-compatible with Roland flagship hardware such as JUPITER-X and FANTOM, so patches built in your DAW transfer straight to the hardware, delivering a true hybrid environment that spans software and hardware.
Deep and Wide ZEN-Core Sound Engine
ZEN-Core is built around independent synth voices called “Partials,” each with its own oscillator, filter, amplifier and dual Step LFOs, and up to four partials can be combined in a single tone. It offers nine virtual analog waveforms, Supersaw, noise, PCM and PCM SYNC plus 1,840 PCM waveforms (expandable beyond 7,000), ten modeling filters including the JUPITER, and eleven LFO shapes, covering everything from classic analog tones to futuristic textures.
Recreate Roland’s Classics with Evolving Model Expansions
By adding Model Expansions such as JX-8P, JUNO-106, JUPITER-8 and SH-101, ZENOLOGY Pro can transform into entirely different instruments. These expansion sounds also share patches with JUPITER-X/Xm hardware, letting you handle vintage tones seamlessly in a modern workflow.
Complex Modulation via 16-Step LFOs
Each partial carries two LFOs, so a single patch can run up to eight LFOs simultaneously. The Step LFO supports 16-step beat-synced automation and lets you choose from 37 curve shapes per step, enabling evolving long passages, modular-style animated textures and finely articulated motion.
90 Built-in Roland Effects
The plugin packs 90 effects, including faithful emulations of Roland’s legendary processors such as the JUNO-106 and CE-1 choruses, the SDD-320 Dimension D and lush delays. Everything from tone shaping to spatial design can be completed inside the plugin.
3,500+ Presets with a Refined Browser
It ships with more than 3,500 patches and drum kits, and you can grow that to over 7,000 by adding Roland Cloud sound packs, Wave Expansions and Model Expansions. The intelligent browser supports filtering, favorites and custom bank creation, so the right sound is always a click away.
Designer Drum Feature
It includes Roland’s historic rhythm machines, natural acoustic kits, electronic sounds and hybrid kits, with detailed per-piece editing and six dedicated drum compressors so you can build punchy custom kits.

Roland Cloud is Roland’s official subscription service. Roland is famous for its legendary hardware, and here those instruments are turned into software so you can use them on a computer. The catalog spans software instruments and effect plugins that work as VST and AU plugins inside your DAW, plus expansion sound packs for Roland hardware synths.
