Atma
Atma is a collection of sacred sound instruments that award-winning Mntra founder and composer Brian D’Oliveira gathered on pilgrimages to sacred sites around the world. From ritual healing bells to Aztec volcanic stone, these special instruments were sampled to explore the possibilities of MNDALA, a creatively powerful non-linear sound-design engine.
By capturing the rich textures of these ancient instruments with a state-of-the-art ultrasonic sampling process, it lets you explore their intricate harmonics with depth and clarity that were previously impossible.
FLTRS
FLTRS is MNTRA Instruments’ ultimate synth-filter ecosystem, integrating 37 legendary analog circuits, an experimental physics engine and spectral processors into one. Built on the idea that an instrument’s “soul” lives in the filter rather than the oscillator, it condenses tones that previously required rack-loads of vintage synths and boutique Eurorack modules into a single plugin.
At its core is MNTRA’s new “Anima Circuits” technology – not a mere digital approximation but a circuit-simulation approach modeling the real behavior of physical components such as resistors, capacitors and transistors. Even when resonance self-oscillates, it avoids harsh digital clipping and aliasing, reproducing hardware-like behavior that warms, screams and sings.
The 37 algorithms span legendary analog circuits such as Acid Ladder (TB-303), QUASAR-106 (Juno-106), EUROPA-6 (Jupiter-6), Filter 35 (MS-20), Odysseus (ARP Odyssey), SEMblance (Oberheim SEM), Putney (EMS VCS3), Polyvox (Polivoks) and Synthaflex (ARP 2600 / Steiner-Parker), plus West Coast & formant filters, experimental physics engines (Doppler Chaos, Gravity Filter, Magnetic Filter), spectral processors and building-block filters. An AniMod XYZ macro surface lets you map cutoff, resonance, drive and more to a single animated control, and combined with an audio-reactive envelope follower it lets you “play” the filter rather than draw automation.
QUASAR-106
QUASAR-106 is a Juno-inspired filter / chorus / drive plugin that rebuilds one of the most beloved signal paths in synth history – the Roland Juno-106’s filter, drive and BBD chorus – from the inside out with MNTRA’s own Anima Circuits technology. It is designed to add motion, stereo width and analog color to any source.
At its core is a filter section offering the thick, sticky character of a Juno-style 24 dB 4-pole filter plus a smoother 12 dB 2-pole mode that never existed on the original hardware. The chorus provides three classic BBD modes, and at maximum the stereo image widens up to 2.5x. Anima Circuits models the physical behavior of real circuitry so the sound stays musical even when pushed into self-oscillation or deep saturation.
Nagual
Nagual is a polyphonic sound instrument built from indigenous instruments used in ancient Mesoamerican rituals. More than a simple sample library, it rebuilds the sound of sacred instruments – once used for altered states of consciousness and ritual experience – as an intuitively playable “sound sculpture.”
Renowned Mexican indigenous musician Ramiro Ramirez took part in the production, and recordings captured traditional playing techniques and spirituality. Clay water whistles, shell trumpets, sacred drums and ocarinas were captured with very high-resolution recording in a Mexico City studio, combining multiple mic setups and Ambisonic capture to reproduce spatial resonance and fine overtones.
Onde
Onde is a modern reconstruction of the soul of the legendary electronic instrument, the Ondes Martenot. Award-winning video-game audio talents Bigano (Vincent Gagnon and Fabien Noel) took part, with virtuoso Daniel Áñez performing. Onde uses physical resonant bodies such as gongs and custom amps, and through ultrasonic-resolution recordings it achieves rich overtones and organic expressiveness beyond conventional synths.
Its sound design is themed around “living sound,” where each performance gesture changes tone and spatial texture in real time. The content is organized into six sound families such as Chords, Drones, Glissando and Gongs. It runs on the MNDALA 2 engine and needs no Kontakt, so you can enjoy advanced sound design immediately after installation.
BRUITAGE
BRUITAGE is not just a distortion plugin but a multi-effect tool designed as a “reactive, playable, living” distortion effect. Where conventional distortion simply adds grit, BRUITAGE responds to the input signal and performance in real time, creating an interactive relationship between artist and sound.
The engine carries six hand-tuned algorithms – overdrive, wavefolding, bitcrush, tape wobble and more – treating noise as a musical element. Mastering-grade compression and limiting derived from the Borealis FX engine are built in, so even extreme settings sit well in a mix.
The Dark Tower
The Dark Tower is an original virtual instrument recorded inside an abandoned giant grain silo. It harnesses the natural reverberation created by multi-story concrete spaces and metal structures, capturing everything from percussive impacts to fantastical sound sculptures. Striking the huge iron plates, stairs, vents and metal structures inside yields deep reverb and complex resonance that can’t be recreated artificially.
These sounds are processed with MNTRA’s own MNDALA 2 engine, and by adding synth-like expression and modulation it covers everything from tense cinematic and trailer music to industrial and experimental electronic music.
El Jaguar
El Jaguar is an original virtual instrument embodying the underground music culture of Barranquilla on Colombia’s Caribbean coast. Produced by MNTRA Instruments together with local artists, it fuses Afro-Caribbean percussion, marimba, vintage drum machines and modular synths, then re-amps them through the iconic Picó sound system to achieve an intense presence full of distortion and warmth.
BOREALIS
BOREALIS is a unique reverb plugin from MNTRA Instruments, designed as an “animist performance reverb.” It responds dynamically to the user’s performance, encouraging an inspiring dialogue between input and output.
It carries 14 algorithms providing a range of time-based effects, including multidimensional convolution reverbs sampled in unique spaces such as “inside a church” or “inside a piano.” X, Y and Z performance animation serves as the main control screen for intuitive operation both visually and sonically.
Pyramids
Pyramids draws inspiration from the ancient Egyptian pyramids and fuses it with modern sound design. Made from pure crystal, the instrument plays crystal-clear tones that transform through movement, rhythm and combination with other vibration sources. As the first release in the “Elemental series,” Pyramids enables multidimensional sound expression that extends beyond physical constraints.
Vespera Series
Vespera is a hybrid electro-acoustic synthesizer that seamlessly fuses the raw distortion of vacuum-tube-driven circuits with the innate resonance of physical objects, the result of extensive sonic experimentation focused on acoustic synthesis. Each vibration is fully transformed through meticulous re-amping via vibration-speaker transducers, resonating through varied media such as skin drums, metal springs and rare large resonant instruments like the Indian esraj and Swedish nyckelharpa.
Version differences: Vespera comes in Standard and Pro versions.
Pro: A 6-octave range (one octave lower and one higher than Standard’s 4 octaves) and up to 13 round robins, capturing all the natural variation of retriggering the same key. 32 GB of system RAM is recommended; built for professionals and live performers who want Vespera’s full feature set with no compromise.
Standard: Offers the same excellent presets and sample maps as Pro but is optimized to 1 round robin per note and a 4-octave range. Ideal for limited systems or newcomers, providing a comprehensive introduction to the world of Vespera while maintaining overall quality and performance.
Ultrasonic Death Whistle (LE version available)
Ultrasonic Death Whistle was designed as an entry point to Mntra’s powerful MNDALA Sound Sculpture Engine. This combination opens the door to unparalleled creative possibilities through Mntra’s cutting-edge ultrasonic-quality sampling.
Performed by award-winning Mntra founder and composer Brian D’Oliveira, it offers a window into a collection of rare pre-Columbian death whistles discovered during their R&D. Many of these death whistles were used in the soundtracks of award-winning AAA video games. Interactive scenes inspired by video-game audio enable intuitive, seamless musical expression through non-linear multidimensional control and patch creation.
The LE version of Ultrasonic Death Whistle contains a curated selection of sample maps and may be distributed free for a limited time.
Tenebrae
LA-based artist Joseph Holiday, under the name SNAKES OF RUSSIA, creates apocalyptic electronic visions known as “death beats.” His singular sound weaves textured modular-synth patches with hard drum samples, all slammed into unobtanium outboard chains and tape to create a distinctive dark world.
Tenebrae was built on the concept of a creature buried underground for over a century, dug up and revived, carrying dark dust from the depths. Modular and analog synths, obscured strings and hard percussion – transformed through analog outboard processing and tape – come together to bring darkness to Tenebrae.
Naada
Naada rebuilds classic Indian sounds as cinematic instruments and textures with unique expressiveness. By seamlessly fusing the depth of ancient ragas with modern aesthetics, Naada opens new territory in sonic exploration, offering musicians, producers and sound healers highly flexible textures and sounds that blend across genres.
Ultrasonic Death Whistle X
Ultrasonic Death Whistle X is a dark, expanded version of the Aztec death whistle. Called the most terrifying instrument in the world, these ceramic skull-shaped instruments were widely used in Mexica spiritual rituals and on the battlefield to instill fear in enemies.
By combining deep source samples from a rare, meticulously handmade death-whistle collection with MNDALA 2’s vast sound-shaping capabilities, UDW X offers limitless creative possibilities. It provides more than twice the samples of UDW and incorporates MNDALA 2’s advanced features.
Pripyat
Pripyat is a software instrument presenting a collection of electronic textures with its own aesthetic. It features cruel electromagnetic waves – normally inaudible to the human ear – re-amped in pure form through various acoustic resonators, vintage analog synthesizers processed through various guitar pedals and Eurorack modular effects, rare marimbaphone and bombo drums, plus noisy ultrasonic recordings of dry ice among its percussion sounds.
Kymera
Kymera is an eerie, haunting dark sound-effects collection for next-generation horror. Drawing on years of R&D building custom instruments for award-winning horror video games and films, the Mntra team spent weeks in the studio experimenting with unconventional sound objects and techniques to develop a one-of-a-kind horror toolkit.
It is the first work in a new instrument series developed on the principles of musique concrète pioneered by French composer Pierre Schaeffer in the 1940s. A vast number of distinctive sounds are recorded ultrasonically, allowing pitching and processing without losing the clarity and definition of the original sources.
Orakle X
Orakle X is Mntra’s largest Sound Sculpture Instrument, providing everything needed to create modern cinematic music inspired by ancient sounds. It includes experimental string articulations, thunderous horns, flute clusters, overtone vocals, unique percussion and much more.
Orakle X is an expansion of Mntra’s original Orakle (the original Orakle is an affordable, condensed collection of Orakle X’s sounds). At its core is a vast collection of one-of-a-kind instruments that Mntra founder Brian D’Oliveira gathered traveling the world. These are not off-the-shelf orchestral libraries but distinctive sounds emphasizing extended techniques – hold a single note and hear it evolve.
Orakle
Orakle draws inspiration from desolate landscapes and ancient aesthetics, combining esoteric instruments and techniques from medieval, Nordic and pan-Asian musical cultures. Performed by award-winning Mntra founder and composer Brian D’Oliveira and drawing on decades of experience in award-winning film and game production, Orakle features medieval- and Eastern-inspired playing methods and unconventional extended techniques.
