Luthéal Piano – Edition Cimbalom is a rare Kontakt library sampled from the only surviving original Luthéal piano, housed at the Musée des Instruments de Musique in Brussels, Belgium. The Luthéal is a modified piano invented in 1922 by George Cloetens, who built an iron mechanism into a Pleyel grand piano. This library captures the sound of the so-called “Cimbalom Stop”, a combination of the Clavecin and Harp Tirée mechanisms. The result is a hybrid voice that fuses the resonance of a grand piano with the sharp percussive attack characteristic of the cimbalom (hammered dulcimer).
