2. What Is Excite Audio “Evolve Nest Acoustics”?
Evolve Nest Acoustics is a sample-based virtual instrument plugin, developed as the first collaboration in Excite Audio’s Evolve series together with sound designer and music maker “Nest Acoustics.”
It fuses foley, natural sound, and field recordings with analog synthesis to build a modern “botanica” sound palette. Designed with synthwave composition and contemporary sound design in mind, it produces textures where organic and synthetic blend together, shimmering pads, and living atmospheres.
POINT: A hybrid sample + synth instrument built around the Evolve XY pad for real-time blending of four layers, drag-and-drop modulation, and four macro effects (Holo / Crust / Breeze / Erode) that draw out organic texture.
Four Dimensions of Sound — The Quad Layer Engine
The sound source of Evolve Nest Acoustics is a quad engine made of four layers. Each layer can freely host either a recorded sample (Acoustic / Bass / Impact / Pluck / Synth / Texture / Tuned Foley) or a synth oscillator.
- Sample Source: Pitch / Fine / Tone, playback direction (Forward/Backward), Keytracking, Pan, Velocity Sensitivity, Volume
- Synth Source: Sine / Triangle / Saw / Square / Pulse shape slider, Unison Detune, Pitch / Fine, Pan, Velocity Sensitivity, Volume
- XY Pad — Sounds Mode: Blend between the four sound sources in real time
- XY Pad — FX Mode: Modulate any parameter by XY position
- Randomise (dice): Randomly select samples per layer; the header dice randomizes the whole instrument including sound sources, parameters, and effects
Four Organic Macro Effects
It features four macro effects, purpose-built to shape the output of Nest Acoustics.
- Holo: Adds prism-like smeared resonant color and a suspended, flanger-like shimmer
- Crust: A dry, fluttery, crunchy upper-layer texture — like sun-baked earth over soft soil
- Breeze: Grows from intimate movement into a long, rich tail like air passing through trees
- Erode: Slowly degrades pitch, bandwidth, and stability to create a rough, organic beauty
Smooth Modulation
Modulation is built into the core of the design and can be routed intuitively alongside reactive visual feedback.
It includes 12 modulation sources, such as 6 ADSR envelopes (with Delay / Hold), 2 LFOs (with Retrigger / Offset support), Velocity / Keytracking (with adjustable curves), and the XY pad’s X / Y positions. A full modulation matrix lets you manage all assigned routings at a glance while finely adjusting curves and polarity.
Dual Filters & 16 Effect Modules
It features dual filters that can freely route each of sound sources A / B / C / D. Both parallel and series routing are supported, and each filter has Cutoff, Resonance, Drive, and Mix.
Furthermore, you can freely insert the following 16 effects into 3 reorderable effect slots.
- Saturation: Tape / Tube / Fuzz
- Feedback: Amount / Frequency / Mix
- Bitcrush: Bit Depth / Sample Rate / Mix
- Delay: Ping-Pong / Stereo, Sync supported
- Reverb: Hall / Plate / Spring
- Compressor: Threshold / Attack / Release / Mix
- Transient: Attack / Release / Gate / Mix
- Modulation: Chorus / Vibrato / Flanger
- Phaser: 1 / 2 / 3 Notch Modes
- Auto-Wah: Amount / Rate / Mix
- Speaker: Device / Cabinet / Hi-Fi / No Speaker
- Width: Haas / Mid-Side / Detune
- Noise: Amp Hiss / Amp Hum / Beach / Campfire / Cassette Static / Crowd and more
- EQ: Lo / Mid / Hi
- Pitch Drift: Sine / Tri Up / Tri Down / Random
- Filter: LPF / HPF / Peak
Other Main Features
It supports user sample import, 250 cross-genre presets, 1–32 voices, Legato, Glide Time (0–5000ms), Pitch Bend (1–12 semitones), Global Pitch (±100 cents), Macro Routing (Pre / Post FX), Eco Mode, and more.
