Pulsar Audio’s tape saturation plugin “DigiTape” is now available for free!
This article covers the free distribution details and an overview of DigiTape. Please use it as a reference.
What Is Pulsar Audio “DigiTape”?
DigiTape is a tape saturation plugin that includes two digital tape algorithms found in the early tape plugins that shaped the sound of the 2000s. It was developed as a tribute to the algorithms created by engineers who knew tape machines inside out, in an era of limited processing power. From subtle warmth to raw distortion, it adds body, density and coloration to drums, vocals and mixes. A perpetual license is being given away for free.
Key Features
- Two early digital tape algorithms in one plugin
- Tape saturation ranging from subtle warmth to raw distortion
- CONTOUR mode: boosts the highs before saturating them, then restores the tonal balance with a filter in the following stage, compressing the highs and rounding off transients (includes five Types, adjustable with Drive / Brightness / Mix)
- GRAIN mode: splits the signal into three bands and saturates the low and mid bands while suppressing the original highs, so the generated harmonics add bite and texture to the high end (balance adjustable with Drive / Brightness)
- Low CPU load design
- Perpetual license
- Supports AAX Native / Audio Unit / VST 2.4 / VST3 (all 64-bit)
Samples used in the video (Splice Sounds): 91V_DIY_120_bass_guitar_dusk_layered_C, DSC_RST_120_drum_loop_star_dry, CO_MC_120_guitar_electric_slide_swells_rawlins_Cmaj
