1. What Is Pulsar Modular Q BIT?
Q BIT is a bitcrusher with a built-in time-hold function. The crusher adds grit and crunch to your sound, while HOLD grabs a piece of your track and holds it, either locked to your song’s tempo or at its own pace.
Key Features
- HOLD: Each grab plays a slice of the track, then freezes its tail and holds it until the next grab
- Sync mode: Grabs in time with your DAW tempo using DIVISION values from 1/4 to 1/32 (straight, dotted and triplet)
- Free mode: Grabs at a set HOLD RATE (1 to 16 times per second)
- MODEL: Four models: Linear, SP-1200, M.93 and ZX Spectrum 128
- BITS (24 to 2 bits), RATE (from the session sample rate down to 2 kHz), MULTIPLY (for M.93) and CHANNELS (for ZX Spectrum 128)
- SEGMENT (10 to 90%): Sets how much of each slice plays before it is held. In Sync mode, a green arc shows settings that keep you from losing hits
- INPUT, MIX and OUTPUT controls, plus a display showing the input and output waveforms
- Presets organized in folders (with search, favorites and a startup default) and A/B comparison
- All parameters are automatable, and latency is reported to your DAW

2. How to Install and Activate Q BIT
Place a free order via the “GET Q BIT FREE” button on the official product page, and your license key will be sent to you by email. The key can be used on up to two computers, and you can activate or deactivate it from within the plugin.
Until it is activated, Q BIT outputs soft noise instead of audio and the license window opens automatically. Paste in your license key and click “Activate” to unlock it.
