What Is Minimal Audio “Current 2.0”?

Current 2.0 is an innovative synthesizer and sound design platform developed by Minimal Audio. It is an ideal tool for every music creator, from beginners to professionals. It offers intuitive operation and unlimited sound design possibilities, with advanced features that spark inspiration.
Play
At the core of Current 2.0’s design is a simple, intuitive interface called the Play view. This view lets you instantly recall presets and custom patches and fine-tune the sound.
- Dual XY pads: these XY pads are a powerful tool for easily controlling four main macro controls. They are pre-mapped for each preset and patch, so you can change the sound instantly without complicated setup
- Quick engine access: see the state of the five sound engines at a glance and test or edit each one individually. Each engine is immediately accessible, so sound design is efficient
Stream
Stream in Current 2.0 is a cloud-connected sound platform that always delivers the latest sound content.
- Presets: thousands of professional presets are included in Stream and can be previewed and downloaded right away. Themed sound packs offer a wide range of tones by genre. Presets range from basses to vocal chops, and four macro controls let you adjust the sound instantly
- Wavetables: includes many custom wavetables, from classic analog waveforms to modern digital sounds. You can load them into Current’s oscillators for a wide range of sound design
- Samples: you can instantly load thousands of high-quality samples, from melodies to unique lo-fi textures. They integrate seamlessly with the sampler engine and include automatic key and tempo detection
Synthesizer Features
Current 2.0 offers a comprehensive sound design ecosystem that integrates multiple synthesis engines and effects.
- Two spectral wavetable oscillators: a wide range of waveform manipulation and more than 40 warp effects
- Granular sampler: stretches time in real time while processing more than 250 grains
- Additive sub oscillator: specialized for the low end, delivering powerful sound
- Time-stretching sampler: freely changes the pitch and tempo of samples to create dynamic sounds
- Flexible modulation system: a variety of modulation sources, including LFOs, envelopes, curve sequencers and envelope followers, give you free control over how the sound moves. Modulation can be assigned by drag and drop and is easy to edit and change. An integrated modulation matrix also provides advanced control
Effects Rack
The effects rack has a chain into which you can freely load all nine of Minimal Audio’s effect plugins. The effect slots can be freely customized, and the rack supports copy and paste of effects and preset management for both individual effects and the whole rack.
MIDI Effects
Current 2.0 also has powerful MIDI effects. The arpeggiator has more than 40 melodic and rhythmic modes, and can generate arpeggios in a wide range of styles. With the flexible chord generator, you can easily create chord progressions using more than 30 chord presets. You can also combine the arpeggiator and chord generator to build complex harmony and rhythm.
