What Is Phantomexposure Sprite Spores?
Sprite Spores is a multi-chip instrument that brings synthesis inspired by classic game console and arcade board sound chips – the AY-3-8910/YM2149, MOS 6581/8580 SID, YM2612 and YM2151 – together into a single resizable instrument. Each chip works as an individually editable mini synth, and they can be layered with the fictional Ghost ASIC engine, drawable wavetables, a chord system, polymetric sequencers and effects that emulate video memory degradation. The result covers everything from crisp chip basses, keys, arpeggios and percussion to glassy FM plucks, eerie pads, unstable drones and crumbling textures.

- AY/YM: Free programming alongside ZX Spectrum 128K and Atari ST inspired profiles, clock and mixer behaviour, envelopes, noise, stereo options and live R0–R13 register data
- SID: Three voices recreating the characteristics of both the 6581 and 8580 models, with pulse width, waveform combining, ring modulation, hard sync, routing, plus model-specific filters and envelopes
- Yamaha FM: Separate engines for the YM2612/OPN2 and YM2151/OPM, with 4-operator algorithms, feedback, detune, key scaling, LFO behaviour and the differing DAC characteristics of each chip
