Expetri, the software synth developed by Expetri, is now available for free!
In this article, we cover how to get Expetri for free and give you an overview of what it can do.
1. What Is Expetri?
Expetri is a software synthesizer that generates sound from cells that are born, drift and divide on the screen. In addition to the existing macOS version, a Windows version was released on November 3, 2026. The free version is described as “Free forever,” with no time limits, no inserted noise and no offline rendering restrictions. The only limitation of the free version is that rare cells are not generated; the FM, Chip, Wavetable and Pluck engines available with rare cells can be used in the full version ($14.99, currently $9.99).
Key Features
- Each cell acts as one oscillator
- A cell’s horizontal position controls panning, and its height controls a low-pass filter (16 kHz to 400 Hz)
- Stirring the cells or shaking the plugin window moves the cells, applying modulation driven by fluid physics
- Analog engine: up to 4 detuned oscillators per cell
- Beaker: four faders for Filter, Attack, Chorus and Reverb
- Flask: switches for sub-oscillator, saturation, delay, stereo width, detune, shimmer, formant and more
- Even the free version lets you save user presets and save settings within your DAW project
- Supported formats: macOS 14 or later (Intel / Apple Silicon) VST3 / AU, Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) VST3
