Pro2Max is currently giving away two of its electric guitar instruments, Unirock HumStrat and Unirock Cherry LPS, completely free of charge.
This article walks through what each instrument offers, how they are built, and how to download and install them.
What Are Pro2Max Unirock HumStrat and Unirock Cherry LPS?
Unirock HumStrat and Unirock Cherry LPS are two Windows-only electric guitar instruments distributed free by Pro2Max. Neither is a cut-down “lite” edition – both are released as complete, full versions with no paid upgrade path, no feature restrictions, and no reduced content library.
The two instruments share the same core design. Each one uses a hybrid approach that pairs a physical modeling engine with a sample library in which every single fret was sampled individually. When a recorded sample matches what is actually being played, the sample is used; dynamic playing, pickup switching, note releases, pitch bends, slides, and any variation with no matching sample are handled by the physical modeling engine instead.
These are not riff or loop libraries that play back pre-recorded phrases. They are designed to be programmed and performed via MIDI, note by note.
The output is a clean electric guitar signal equivalent to a recorded DI track, so you combine it with your own amp simulator, cabinet simulator, and effects chain to shape the final tone.
The control scheme is shared as well. Pickup selection and articulation switching are handled entirely with keyswitches. Nine articulations are mapped across C0 to G#0: sustain, palm mute, dead note, natural harmonics, pinch harmonics, slide up, slide down, vibrato, and legato slide. Pick scrape sits on F#-1 for the short version and G-1 for the long version. Note that pickup switching is keyswitch-only – clicking the guitar graphic in the interface does not change the pickup.
Both instruments also feature round robin sample variation, velocity-responsive behaviour, volume and tone controls, an Auto Sustain function that lets notes decay naturally after release, and an adjustable pitch bend range in the settings panel.
Both are provided as VST3 plugin and standalone versions for 64-bit Windows 10 and 11. There is no macOS build. There is no copy protection, and no internet connection is required once installed.

How to Download and Install Unirock HumStrat and Unirock Cherry LPS
Both instruments can be downloaded free of charge from their respective official GitHub release pages. Please note that they are Windows-only and do not support macOS.
Unirock HumStrat is offered as both a standard installer and a portable ZIP package, while Unirock Cherry LPS is offered as an installer only. Run the installer (or unpack the ZIP) and point your DAW at the VST3 folder, or launch the standalone application directly.
Final Thoughts
Free guitar instruments are usually either sample-only libraries with a handful of articulations or heavily limited demo versions. Unirock HumStrat and Unirock Cherry LPS stand out because they are full releases built on a hybrid modeling and sampling engine, covering both the single-coil-heavy Strat sound and the thicker Les Paul humbucker sound between them.
If you are on Windows and write guitar parts with MIDI, both are worth grabbing while they are available at no cost.
