Trebless’ multi-tap magnetic tape delay & FDN reverb plugin “Tesseract Echo” is now available for free!
This article covers the giveaway details and an overview of Tesseract Echo. We hope you find it helpful.
1. What is Trebless “Tesseract Echo”?
Tesseract Echo is a deeply tweakable free multi-effect plugin that combines a 4-head multi-tap magnetic tape delay with a dual-stage diffusion FDN reverb. Hermite 4-point interpolation, constant-power panning, and dual-stage diffusion deliver clear, wide, and deep spatial imaging. Its MIDI instrument mode, powered by a Karplus-Strong engine, tunes the delay time to incoming MIDI notes so you can “play” the delay like a physical string—covering everything from classic echo duties to a pure sound-design playground.
Main Features
- 4-Head Tape Engine: Four independent read heads with per-head level/pan controls and a fractional spacing algorithm, letting you seamlessly morph from triplets to the golden ratio to heavy swing
- Non-Linear Tape Filter: A 1-pole HPF/LPF plus an analog-style Drive stage built into the feedback loop (with automatic make-up gain)
- Advanced Modulation: Modulation that pushes all the way into audio-rate, plus “Tape (Wow & Flutter)” and “Stepped Random” LFO shapes for mechanically degraded sounds
- Karplus-Strong Engine: Tunes the delay time to incoming MIDI notes to synthesize physical strings and tuned resonances
- FDN Reverb & Ducker: A pure Feedback Delay Network reverb with selectable routing (Pre / Post / End) and a built-in sidechain compressor that ducks the wet signal with the dry input
- Safe Mode: Even when master feedback is pushed to 100%, a dynamic protection mechanism prevents speaker damage while generating beautiful infinite ambient drones
