What Is Orra Audio “Orra Key”?
Orra Key is a key detection, chord and transpose plugin that detects the key of a sample or loop in seconds, plays the chords of that key, and lets you drag them into your song as MIDI. Where many key detection tools stop at giving you an answer, Orra Key presents the chords of that key as tiles and even shows how many semitones to shift a sample so it fits your own track. It never touches your audio: it is designed purely to listen and report back.
Key Features
- Key detection: shows the key within seconds of playback, along with the relative key and two DJ codes (8A/8B, 1d/1m)
- MATCH: a confidence percentage calibrated against labeled loops, readable as a hit rate
- ALSO LIKELY: shows up to two next-most-likely keys, switchable with a click
- TUNING: shows how far the material deviates from A440, in cents
- NOTES HEARD: 12 bars from C to B show how much of each note was heard, with the key’s scale notes highlighted in gold
- Key wheel: 24 keys on two rings (major outside, minor inside), showing likelihood and keys that mix cleanly; click any key to use it
- Chord tiles: 11 tiles in total, the key’s 7 chords plus 4 borrowed from neighboring modes. Click to audition, drag into your DAW as a MIDI clip
- Chord adjustments: triads / 7ths / 9ths, 4 voicings (Close / Smooth / Open / + Bass), 3 registers (Low / Mid / High), and 1-, 2- or 4-bar clip lengths
- Transpose & MATCH TO: shows the key reached at each of 13 steps from -6 to +6 semitones, with the shift that fits your project key highlighted in gold
- Zero latency: audio passes through untouched, analysis runs on a dedicated thread, and results are saved with your session
